HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team fell 68-57at Texas Southern Monday night at the Physical Education Arena.

The Golden Lions had two players score in double figures, led by Marquell Carter, who had 18 points and two steals. Dequan Morris tacked on 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
The Golden Lions kept the game close, scoring eight points off Texas Southern to eight turnovers to go into the locker room down one, 33-32.

In the second half the Texas Southern increased their lead before UAPB went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 39-37 off a jumper by Carter early in the second half, before the Tigers pulled away to seal the victory.

"I thought the guys came out and did a good job against a team like Texas Southern," said UAPB head coach George Ivory. "We did a good job rebounding and cutting down on the turnovers. I spoke to the guys at practice Sunday, and we preached about working hard and it will pay off. But the guys are excited about being at home this weekend and we'll be ready to play hard in front of our fans."
