The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team begins conference play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Roundup at the William Nicks Building on the campus of Prairie View Friday through Sunday.

On the first day of competition, the Lady Lions will compete Friday against Alabama A&M at 12:30 p.m. and Alabama St. at 3 p.m.  On Saturday the UAPB will face off against Mississippi Valley at 10 a.m. and Jackson St. at 7 p.m.  The Lady Lions will play their final match Sunday against Alcorn St. at 12:30 p.m.  The SWAC Roundup live stats will be available with the link at uapblionsroar.com.

The Lady Lions is coming off one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the conference. 

"The roundup will give us a chance to see where are as a team in the conference," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas. "We've got to come in and finish strong from the beginning to the end of every match.  I think my ladies are up for the challenge and we are excited."

Sophomore Kaila Robinson leads UAPB with 57 kills, 11 assists, and seven serving aces, followed by sophomore Haley Gomez adding a total of 53 kills and five assists.  Freshman Elyssa Kennedy contributed a team-high 134 assists. 

On the defensive side, Gomez leads the team with 21 blocks, which ranks second in the conference in total blocks.
