FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff football team battled tough in falling 39-7 at TCU Saturday night at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
The defense produced a valiant effort, limiting TCU to six field goals and only two touchdowns over the game's first 59 minutes. During the mid-second quarter to mid-third quarter, UAPB forced four straight field goal attempts by the Horned Frogs.
Trailing 22-0 late in the third quarter, UAPB scored its only touchdown following an
Isaac Peppers fumble recovery on a muffed TCU punt. On the ensuing play,
Shannon Patrick connected with
Harry Ballard on a 36-yard pass to the one-yard line. Keshawn Williams, playing in his first game since 2017, scampered in on the next play to cut the deficit to 22-7 with 1:31 to play in the period.
However, TCU answered back with a five-play, 62-yard touchdown drive to push the score to 29-7.
UAPB will open Southwestern Athletic Conference play next Saturday at Alabama A&M in the conference opener for both teams. Kickoff is at 6 p.m., with the UAPB Sports Network broadcast beginning at 5:30 p.m. on 99.3 The Beat in Pine Bluff, 920 AM The Sports Animal in Little Rock, online at uapblionsroar.com and on the UAPB Athletics app.
