Lady Lions Comeback Falls Short To Alcorn St. in SWAC Tourney

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to Alcorn State Thursday in an elimination game of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.

Alcorn State struck first scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.  UAPB broke through in the top of the fifth inning with back-to-back doubles by Alexandria Taylor and Shanice Akins, with Taylor scoring to cut the lead to 2-1.   

In the top of the seventh inning, Akins got on via error but was unable to score for UAPB.

Taylor led the Lady Lions at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Akins and Samantha Harris with two hits apiece.
