Box Score MEMPHIS – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team nearly erased a six-run deficit, losing at Memphis 11-10 Tuesday at Fed Ex Park.

Nick Kreutzer homered twice, had three hits, and three RBI. Ryan Mallison also had three hits, and Larry Sims homered for the second straight game and was one of three players with two hits as the Golden Lions battled the Tigers of the American Athletic Conference.

UAPB scored in the first inning for the second straight game. Justin Robinson singled to shortstop to lead off the game, and advanced to second on a groundout. Kreutzer's single through the left side scored Robinson for an early 1-0 lead.

Trailing 6-1 after two innings, the Lions started to claw back. In the third, Jarficur Parker hit a one-out single to right. With two outs, Sims hit his fifth homer of the season on a 1-1 pitch to left field to cut the deficit to 6-3.

After falling behind 9-3 after five innings, UAPB put a five-spot on the board in the sixth. Kreutzer led off the inning with a homer to straight away center field on a 3-2 pitch for his team-leading 10th of the season. After loading the bases with two outs, Austin Toth, Robinson, and Parker drew three consecutive bases-loaded walks. Toth then scored on a wild-pitch to cut the deficit to 9-8.

After Memphis added two runs in the home half of the sixth, UAPB scored a run in the seventh. With two outs, Esparza walked and scored on a Mallison triple down the left field line.

In the eighth, Kreutzer hit his 11th homer of the season on a 2-1 pitch to center field to bring the Golden Lions to within one.

Robinson and Esparza each had two hits for the UAPB, which will complete the regular season with a three-game home series hosting North Alabama. Friday's doubleheader starts at noon, before Saturday's Senior Day Festivities at 12:40 p.m. prior to the 1 p.m. first pitch.
