STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team battled throughout the contest before #8 Mississippi State pulled away late to win 14-1 Wednesday at Dudy Noble Field.
The Golden Lions had a runner in scoring position in six of the first seven innings but were unable to score during that time. MSU scored two runs in the second inning before breaking the game open with an eight-run seventh.
UAPB scored in the eighth inning.
Braelin Hence and
Austin Toth led off the inning with singles. Hence then scored on a double play groundout.
Nick Kreutzer,
Bryce Roesch, and Justin Robinson each had hits for the Golden Lions, who will return to action Friday in a doubleheader at Southern starting at 3 p.m.
NOTABLES:
Kreutzer went 1-1 with three walks in the game.
Roesch (1-4) extended his on-base streak to eight games.
Colton Bochtler allowed only two runs and six hits in 4 2/3 IP in the start on the mound, walking one and striking out three.
