JACKSON, Tenn. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's golf team posted an eighth-place finish in the Grover Page Classic, hosted by Tennessee Martin.
The young Golden Lions featuring all freshmen posted a team score of 954 in the 10-team event, finishing ahead of Alabama A&M and Hannibal-LaGrange. The challenging field featured teams from host UT-Martin, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, Union, Southern Indiana, John Logan, and Brescia.
Joshua McCray led the Golden Lions, as he finished tied for 16
th in a field of more than 60 players. McCray had back-to-back rounds of 73 before a final round 80 to shoot 10-over par 226.
Grayson Martin finished two shots behind at 228 (80-72-76).
Tristan Maharaj (75-82-79; 236), and
Houston Sowell (89-88-87; 264) completed the scoring for UAPB.
The Golden Lions return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Prairie View A&M Spring Intercollegiate Tournament.
