MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's golf team opened the spring schedule with a pair of events in Montgomery.
The Golden Lions won a dual meet against Alabama A&M, while finishing fourth in the Alabama State Spring Kickoff.
In the dual meet, UAPB posted a team score of 314, finishing eight shots ahead of the Bulldogs at Lagoon Park.

Grayson Martin, and Tristen Maharaj all posted a round of 5-over 77 as part of a four-way tie for first place with Alabama A&M's Paul Sam.
Houston Sowell shot 83 to finish seventh, one shot ahead of teammate
Joshua McCray.
In the ASU Spring Kickoff, the Golden Lions shot a team score of 920 in the 54-hole event at Lagoon Park, only two shots out of third place behind Evansville. The host Hornets won the event, and Western Illinois was second. UAPB finished ahead of Chicago State, Manhattan, Alabama A&M, and Morehouse in the eight-team event.
The Golden Lions improved their scoring in each round, shooting 311, 307, and 302. Martin finished tied for eighth with a score of seven over 223. Maharaj finished in 11
th place, two shots behind at nine over 225. McCray (234), Maenaga (243), and Sowell (249) completed the scoring for UAPB.
The Golden Lions return to action March 11 and 12 at the Tennessee-Martin Grove Page Classic.
