Abilene Christian Defeats UAPB 9-7 in Game Two of Series

Abilene, TX.- Abilene Christian scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to come from behind and defeat the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team 9-7 Saturday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field. 

The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Golden Lions tied the game when Larry Sims blasted a three run homer in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 3-3.   UAPB (1-5)  tacked on three more runs in the top of the eighth when Bryce Roesch single up the middle, followed Jarficur Parker single to left and Nick Kreutze giving the Golden Lions a 7-5 lead with a three run home run over the left field wall. 

Abilene Christian (3-3) would respond in the same inning, going on a rally and scoring four runs for to hold on for the win.  

Parker led the Golden Lions at the plate going 2-of-4 at the plate, followed by Kreutzer going 1-of-3, scoring two runs, one home run, and four RBIs.  Sims also had three RBIs with one home run.

Roesch picked up the loss for UAPB going one inning, with one strikeout and giving up two runs.  Sergio Esparza who started the game going seven innings, giving up eight hits, seven runs, and six strikeouts.

Cole McKay picked up the win for the Wildcats and finished the game with three strikeouts. 

The Golden Lions will be back in action for game three Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m.
