Softball Falls To UCA In Doubleheader

Conway, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions (0-5) lost on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the eighth inning, which allowed Central Arkansas (7-4) to escape with a 3-2 win Wednesday night in game 1 at Farris Field. 

The Sugar Bears struck first in the bottom of the third, hitting two consecutive doubles in the center field gap scoring Morgan Felts and Libby Morris. 

UAPB would answer back in the top of the fifth, when Desiree Bumpers reached on an error and advanced to third off a double down the left field line by Taylor Alexander, advancing Bumpers to third, who would score off a single to center field by Samantha Harris.  Alexander would score the tying run off a fielder choice by Faith Santa-Cruz.

The Sugar Bears would rally back scoring the game-winning run off a hard line drive through the right field gap.   Juliana Dominguez pitched 7.2 innings with one strikeout.  Jordan Johnson picked up the win for UCA.
 
Game 2
Central Arkansas wasted no time in game two scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fourth, with four unearned runs off three errors, UAPB had a chance with runners on second and third in the top of the second inning, but couldn't capitalize on the opportunity. Juliana Dominguez picked up the loss for the Lady Lions pitching four innings and walking one.

UAPB returns to action on Friday, Feb. 22-24 in the Lady Demon Classic in Natchitoches, LA. against Houston Baptist at 10:00 a.m.
