Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lion baseball team lost to Alcorn 10-9 Saturday in the Andre Dawson Classic at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
Austin Krzeminski went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI,
Jarficur Parker had two hits, and
Austin Toth had three RBI for the Golden Lions (0-2).
The lead changed hands four times in the game. Trailing 2-0, UAPB scored four times in the second inning. With one out, Krzeminski walked and advanced to third on a
Nick Kreutzer double to right field.
Bryce Roesch singled to left field, scoring Krzeminski and moving Kreutzer to third. After
Larry Sims was hit by pitch to load the bases, Toth doubled to right scoring all three runners for a 4-2 Arkansas Pine Bluff lead.
After falling behind 6-4 in the top of the fifth, the Golden Lions regained the lead in the home half of the inning.
Ryan Mallison led off with a walk, and advanced to third on
Sergio Esparza's single to right. After
Ricardo Sanchez walked to load the bases, Krzeminski's double scored Mallison and Esparza to tie the score at 6-6. With two outs, Roesch walked to load the bases, and Sims was then hit by a pitch to score Sanchez for a 7-6 UAPB lead.
Trailing 10-7 in the eighth, Parker doubled and Mallison walked to lead off the inning, before both runners advanced on a passed ball. With one out, Sanchez' sacrifice fly scored Parker. Mallison later scored on an error for the final margin.
UAPB will face Florida A&M Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wesley Barrow Stadium in the final game of the weekend.
