"We've spent a lot of time focusing on us as we prepare for the matchup against Texas Tech because they are playing really good basketball right now," said UAPB assistant coach Nicole Mealing. "They can spread the floor because of their ability to shoot the three-ball efficiently. Their post players are probably the best we will see this season, and we know coming that this game will test us in a way we haven't been tested before. We just have to continue to grow and get better at paying attention to the small details."
In the matchup against the Shockers, junior Jayla Atmore, who's tied for second on the team in scoring with an average of 9.3, led the Lady Lions with 13 points, followed by senior Kyeonia Harris with nine points and leads the team with an average of 8.6 points per game. Senior Noe'll Taylor, who's second on the team in total steals with 16, added eight points.
