BATON ROUGE, LA. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team got its revenge against Southern 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18 in a crucial conference match Thursday evening at the F.G. Activity Center.  

UAPB jumped out to a fast start by clinching the first two sets, before wrapping up the match in set four.

With the win, the Lady Lions now move to 6-9 in conference play and the Lady Jags 9-6 in conference play

"We executed our game plan tonight," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas. "We came out with good energy against a good Southern team.  We knew that it was going to be tough in a packed house on senior night, but the ladies stayed focus and played on a high level."

Sophomore Haley Gomez pounded a team-high 11 kills for UAPB, followed by sophomore Kaila Robinson and freshman Zyiare Garrit both with nine kills apiece. Senior Micayla Pope added nine assists. On the defensive side, sophomore Breana August led the Lady Lions with eight digs, along with freshman Samoana Poyer with a team-high three blocks.

UAPB will be back in action Sunday in Greek Night against Prairie View at 5:30 p.m. at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
