Women’s Basketball Set For Road Contest Against #23 Tennessee

11/25/2019 5:02:00 PM

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball team will hit the road for a two-game span as they take on #23 Tennessee Tuesday at Thompson-Boling Arena in a 6 p.m. tipoff.

This matchup will not only be the first meeting between the two programs but also the highest-ranked opponent the Lady Lions will face this year. The game will be televised live on SECN+.  For live coverage and stats, go to uapblionsroar.com

"It's an honor to play against a program like Tennessee, and our ladies are very excited about the challenge," said first-year UAPB assistant coach Kyle Adams.  "Tennessee is a very athletic group and long, but our ladies showed a lot of character from the last game against Illinois, and never gave up and playing games like this will help us as we head into conference."

UAPB is coming off 65-50 defeat to Illinois last Thursday in non-conference action.  The Lady Lions were down by as many as 23 points in the second half but fought back to cut the lead down to 10 in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Lions had three-student-athletes scored in double-figures, freshman Tyler Pyburn scored a team-high 12 points, followed by senior Aiya El Hassan with 10 points, and freshman Nissa Sam-Grant earned her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
