The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball ends its two-game road swing against Illinois Thursday at 7 p.m. at the State Farm Center.
This matchup will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2016 when the Fighting Illini, who's 3-1 this season defeated the Lady Lions 70-58. The UAPB Sports Network radio broadcast begins at Lions Roar All Access at 6:45 p.m. on 99.3 FM, online at uapblionsroar.com, and on the free UAPB Athletics App.
The Lady Lions are coming off a tough non-conference 69-55 loss in a battle against Milwaukee Tuesday night. UAPB stormed out in the first quarter and jumped out to a nine-point lead 14-5 before Milwaukee would battle back for the win.
"The ladies are looking forward to the match against Illinois. We've got to come out and play hard for 40 minutes," said first-year assistant coach Nicole Mealing. "We had some ladies step up in the game against Milwaukee, and all we asked of them is to be consistent and give effort for 40 minutes."
In the contest last night against Milwaukee, UAPB had three student-athletes in double-figures, senior Kyeonia Harris, Aiya El Hassan, and junior Trasity Totten each had 11 points apiece. On the defensive board, junior Jayla Atmore had a team-high seven rebounds, and senior Noe'll Taylor had a game-high five steals.
