MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff women's basketball team again battled in its second game of the season, losing at Milwaukee 69-55 at the Klotsche Center.
Aiya El Hassan,
Kyeonia Harris, and
Trasity Totten each scored 11 points to lead UAPB.
Jayla Atmore scored eight points and had a game-high seven rebounds for the Lady Lions.
UAPB got off to a fast start in the opening period. Totten scored eight points and El Hassan four as the Golden Lions led 14-5 with 4:42 to play in the quarter.
However, Milwaukee chipped away and took the lead for good in the second quarter and led 36-28 at halftime.
UAPB again started the third quarter strong, as baskets by Atmore and
Noe'll Taylor cut the deficit to 36-32 less than a minute into the second half.
After the Panthers pushed the lead to 11 at 43-32 with a 7-0 run, UAPB answered with a spurt of its own.
A total of four different players scored in the 9-0 run, capped by Harris' three-pointer to cut the margin to 43-41 with just under five minutes to play in the third. However, despite trailing by five entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions would get no closer.
