Volleyball Hits The Road To Hattiesburg For Non-Conference Match Up

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team hits the road for a non-conference matchup against Southern Mississippi Friday at 6 p.m. at the Reed Green Coliseum.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2014 when the Lady Eagles won 3-0.

"The ladies are excited about playing Southern Mississippi. We now understand that we have to fight to the end," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas. "We had a long week last week in the roundup, but we're focused as we head down the final stretch of the season."

Sophomore Haley Gomez leads the team with 200 kills for the season. Gomez ranks ninth in the conference in hitting percentage at .214 and ninth in total points with 255.5. Junior Bri-Anna Armstrong and freshman Elyssa Kennedy tied for fourth in the conference in service ace average at 0.31. On the defensive side, Gomez continues to dominate on the boards, and she's second in the conference in total blocks with 82, three blocks behind the leader. Sophomore Breana August ranks sixth in the conference in total digs with 63.
