JACKSON, MS. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team heads to Jackson, Mississippi, for the second round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Round-Up to be held at T.B. Ellis Physical Education Center on the campus of Jackson St.
The Lady Lions will take on Alabama A&M Friday at 10 a.m. and Alabama St. at 3 p.m. The SWAC Roundup live stats will be available with the link at uapblionsroar.com.
"We're coming into this roundup this weekend with a different mindset and understanding what we need to do to move up in the standings," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas.
In the last roundup on Day 1, UAPB split on day one, losing to Alabama A&M 3-1 before sweeping Alabama St. 3-0.
Sophomore Haley Gomez leads the team with 154 kills for the season, followed by Kaila Robinson with 136 kills, and freshman Zyaire Garrit with 129 kills. Garrit also ranks ninth in the conference in service ace per set with an average of 0.29. Sophomore Bri-Anna Armstrong ranks eighth in the conference in hitting percentage with an average of .226. On the defensive side, Gomez ranks second the conference with a total of 67 blocks, followed by junior Bri-Anna Armstrong who ranks 10th with 29, and fifth in the conference in service ace per set with an average 0.31, and sophomore Breana August stands at ninth in the conference in digs with a total of 181.
