Volleyball Welcomes Fisk College For Non-Conference Clash

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team plays its first home matches of the season Thursday in the H.O. Clemmons Arena when they host Fisk College in a non-conference doubleheader match at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Lady Lions began conference play last weekend in the SWAC Roundup going 2-3, sweeping three-time SWAC defending champions Alabama St. and Mississippi Valley St.

"We've got to come into the game with high energy and ready from the start," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas. "We got to continue to progress on the court and finish the game from the start to the end. This game will help us train on our discipline and learn to minimize our mistakes."

Sophomore Haley Gomez leads the Lady Lions with 103 kills, followed by freshman Zyaire Garitt and sophomore Kaila Robinson, each with 93. On the defensive side, Robinson has 128 digs for UAPB, followed by Gomez with 43 blocks. Robinson was also named Newcomer of the Week in the conference on Tuesday.
