Volleyball Returns Home Thursday To Host Grambling St.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team returns home to the H.O. Clemmons Arena on Thursday evening to face Grambling St at 6:30 p.m. in Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night.

The Lady Lions are back home after dropping a heartbreaking five-set match to Texas Southern Monday night in conference play. Grambling St. comes into the match 2-5 in the conference, sitting in eighth place, UAPB sits in fourth place in conference play at 2-4.

"Our girls are excited to be back home, but we have to come out and finish until the final match point," said first-year UAPB head coach Chelsey Lucas. "We want the crowd to come out and support the ladies because the energy from our student-body and fans takes the game to another level."

Sophomore Haley Gomez leads the team with 144 kills for the season, followed by Kaila Robinson with 126 kills, and freshman Zyaire Garrit with 114 kills. On the defensive side, Gomez leads the conference with a total of 63 blocks, followed by junior Bri-Anana Armstrong, who's second in the conference in service aces with an average of 0.35, and freshman Breana August stands at 10th in the conference in digs with a total of 152.
