Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions baseball team somehow did it again.

It successfully completed a three-game sweep over Prairie View A&M with yet another thrilling come from behind 6-5 victory in 10 innings on Easter Sunday at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex. The win marks the third straight Southwestern Athletic Conference victory for UAPB.

The Golden Lions struck first with a run in the second inning as John Magnuson produced a sacrifice fly that brought in Ricardo Sanchez. The Panthers answered back with a run of its own as a result of an error by UAPB shortstop Jar Parker. However, the freshman shortstop and Plano West alum quickly made up for it in the fifth inning as the Golden Lions regained the lead when JP Soriano generated a sacrifice fly that scored Parker.

In the sixth inning, Prairie View got hot and poured in three runs and took a 4-2 lead, but before the end of the inning the Golden Lions responded with two runs of its own to tie the game at 4-4 when Sanchez produced a RBI-triple that brought home Columbo. Cutter McDonald then hit a pop up to center field that resulted in a sacrifice fly, allowing Sanchez to tag up and score.

Both teams were then held scoreless over the next three innings before the Panthers generated what seemed to be the game winning run in the top of the tenth inning as Daniel Lingua touched home plate for the third time in the contest. However, the Golden Lions once again managed to pull off a thrilling comeback victory in the bottom of the tenth as the pressure once again seemed too much for the Panthers to handle. Columbo started off the inning by taking a base on balls, then teammate Sanchez was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Kacy Higgins then came in as a pinch runner and replaced Columbo and at the same moment, Prairie View made a change at the mound.

As a result of an error by the pitcher, both Sanchez and Higgins advanced to second and third respectively. On the next at-bat, Austin Toth reached on a fielder's choice but Higgins' attempt to tie the ball game was unsuccessful as he was thrown out at home. On the following at-bat, Magnuson reached on a fielder's choice and produced a RBI as Sanchez scampered across home plate to tie the ball game. Magnuson was eventually picked off at first base but Toth soon advanced to third on a wild pitch, setting up the game-winning run. Junior transfer Ryan Mallison then did what he does best and put his bat on the ball, producing a walk-off RBI single that brought in Toth for the win.

Golden Lions pitcher Tyrus Lopez (4-2) went the distance and picked up his second victory of the weekend. In 10 innings he allowed 11 hits and struck out six batters. Both teams produced 11 hits each. Manguson finished with a team-high two RBI while teammate Esparza went 3-for-5 from the plate. Columbo finished 3-for-4 with one run while fellow Golden Lion Sanchez finished 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

UAPB (10-12, 7-5 SWAC) returns to action on Wednesday, April 4 as it travels to Louisiana to face Nicholls State University. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at the Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.
