Lady Lions 2nd half meltdown leads to 89-72 loss against Prairie View

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions trailed by just two points at halftime before the Lady Panthers hit 16-of-18 free throws to pull away in the fourth quarter with an 89-72 victory at H.O. Clemmons Arena behind Shala Dobbins' 40 points (22-for-23 FT's). Senior Faith Ohanta finished with a double-double and scored 26 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field to go along with 11-for-19 from the foul line. She also grabbed 11 boards and had one block and one assist in the loss.

Turnovers were once again the story for the Lady Lions as it committed 26 as a team, but produced 16 assists on 24 baskets. Aiya El-Hassan finished with 12 points and two boards in 22 minutes while teammate Destiny Brewton chipped in with eight points, a game-high 10 assists and four boards. Fellow Lady Lion Noe'll Taylor produced nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field.

As a team UAPB (5-19, 3-11 SWAC) shot 46 percent from the field and held its opponent to 37 percent. The Lady Lions won the rebound battle 46 to 38, but Prairie View (10-14, 8-5 SWAC) made 28-of-34 free throws while UAPB shot 22-of-36 from the foul line.

UAPB returns to action on Monday, February 19 as it hosts Texas Southern University in SWAC action. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at H.O. Clemmons Arena. The game has been dubbed "Military Night" as free admission will be given to all military personnel and first responders dressed in uniform or with valid identification. On January 22, the Lady Tigers defeated UAPB 58-52 in Houston.
