GULF SHORES, Ala. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions finished seventh overall at the recent
Gulf Shores Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. UAPB freshman
Joshua McCray led the Golden Lions as he finished fourth out of 53 participants and managed a double eagle on hole number seven, which was a 530 yard par-5 hole. He started off hitting a drive of 344 yards, then used an 8-iron on his second shot, completing the 186 yards for the double eagle.
"The odds of scoring a double eagle (albatross) is more rare than a hole in one," said UAPB Head Coach
Roger Totten. "Only a small percentage of golfers ever achieve this in their lifetime. This is one of golf's rarest achievements."
The Golden Lions golf team returns to action in February of 2019 as it partakes in the Alabama State University Spring Kickoff in Montgomery, Alabama.
