Bama State jumped out on top early in the sixth minute of the match with an early goal to take a 1-nil lead. After a scoreless first half for UAPB, Alabama State added two insurance goals in the 74th and 90th minute to seal the deal.
"I'm not gonna offer up any excuses, they were the better team in the evening," said UAPBÂ Head Coach
Ted Flogaites. "Our team is hungry and knows we didn't hit top cylinder today and that its up to us to produce that. We will turn the page; football is football, you take your licks, you take your lessons and you take your wounds."
In the opening half the Lady Lions generated five shots.
Karissa Fenwick and
Mariah Johnson both finished with one shot on goal apiece while Fenwick and Kimberly produced two shots each. Junior goal keeper
Sariah Orocu finished with with three saves in the loss.

"Forget the result," said Coach Flogaites. "Good for A&M. They were hungry and it showed. We had more than enough chances to put the match to bed but we lacked sharpness in the final third. I've failed this team because I've failed to teach something that I consider to be the biggest and most important lesson. For me, personally, it's how I judge real success and failure. I haven't gotten this certain thing across to the team, and that's my responsibility," said Flogaites.
UAPB (3-6-2, 3-3-2 SWAC) returns to action on Friday, October 26 as it hosts Grambling State University for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Pumphrey Stadium.
