Lady Lions Split in Day 2 of SWAC Roundup

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Houston, Texas. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team split a pair of games at the SWAC Roundup held on the campus of Texas Southern on Saturday evening in the HPE Arena.

UAPB won its first match in straight sets over Alcorn State 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, and 25-14). Lisia Casimie led the way for UAPB with 11 kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Lauren Corby had seven kills. Taylor Sheppy had a team high 11 digs. Britney Sahlmann had 31 set assists and five digs. Kaitlyn Hapke had four kills, 10 digs to help contribute the Lady Lions to victory.

The second match was a four set epic defensive battle with Alabama State. The Lady Lions won the first set 25-22. The Hornets then battled back to win the next three sets to take the match 25-15, 25-19 and 15-19.

Taylor Sheppy and Lisa Casimie had 10 kills for UAPB, followed by Taylor Burrall and Britney Sahlmann with 29 assists. Jade Sanlin had a team high 20 digs and two aces. Kendalle Howard had seven kills and 12 digs.

Ni'yesha Brown had 16 kills to lead Alabama St., followed by Bayle' Bennett with 14.

After going 2-2 on day two facing conference opponents, UAPB is now 2-2 on the season in conference play.

UAPB will face Alabama A&M Sunday morning September 24 and will be back at home Thursday October 5, versus Southern U. at 6:30 p.m.
