PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 7) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Tennis team pulled a 4-3 win over Mississippi Valley State, here Friday afternoon at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
 
UAPB scored all four of their points in singles play with the Lady Lions winning four of the six singles competition.
 
Taylor Shaw defeated Shaneka Hubbard, 7-5 in the first set and 6-4 in the second set to win the No. 1 single competition.   
 
In the No. 2 singles competition, Tia Thomas went three sets with Rita Gyasi with winning the first set, 6-2.   Thomas tied the competition at 1-1 with a 6-3 win in the second set.  Thomas would then win the competition with a 6-4 win in the third set.
 
Amira Taylor would also go three sets in her No. 3 singles competition with Sydney Newport.  Taylor won the first set 6-1, to take a 1-0 lead in the completion.  Newport tied the competition at 1-1 with a 6-1 win in the second set.  Taylor would win the competition with a 7-6 win in the third set.
 
Amirah Ali would give the Lady Lions the victory with 6-4 win in the first set and 7-5 win in the second set over Mariana Balbac in No. 4 singles competition.
