Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 29)- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball late inning heroics was not enough with the Golden Lions dropping a 12-9 decision to Prairie View A&M, here Saturday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
 
UAPB finished the contest with eight hits, while PVAMU punched out 19.
 
Both 
Jaquese Moore and 
Corey Henderson finished with two hits apiece to lead the Golden Lions, while Avery Williams finished four hits to lead the Panthers.
 
Charles Philpott (4-2) picked the win for the Panthers.  He gave up five hits, four earned runs and struck out six in seven inning of work, while Jordan Foster (2) got the save as he faced three batters and gave up one hit in one-third inning of work.
 
C.J. Lewington (1-3) received the loss for UAPB.  In his outing on the mound, he gave up eight hits, three earned runs and struck out two in three and one-third innings of work.
 
 
UAPB jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a 
Sergio Esparza base clearing double to left field, scoring 
Aderly Perez, 
Jordan Knox and Moore.
 
PVAMU plated one run in their half of the second inning with Carson Lee scoring on a Kevin Macias single to right center, cutting UAPB's lead to 3-1. 
 
The Panthers tide the contest at 3-3 in the top of the third inning with Avery Williams scoring on a Lee single and Cody Den Beste scoring on an UAPB fielding error.
 
UAPB regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning with 
Jordan Knox scoring on a Joshua William double to left field.  Then Williams would then score on a 
Corey Henderson single up the middle to give the Golden Lions a 5-3 advantage over the Panthers.
 
PVAMU then scored three runs in their half of the fourth and two run in the fifth to take an 8-5 lead over UAPB.
 
UAPB then pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning with 
Jaylen Jackson scoring on a Knox single to cut PVAMU's lead to 8-6. 
 
The Panthers increased their lead to 12-6 in the top of the ninth inning with PVAMU plating four runs in the inning.
 
UAPB scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for the 12-9 final with Jackson scoring on a Perez sacrifice fly to right field.  Then Moore would then score on a 
Juan Pablo Soriano ground out to the shortstop.  Knox would score the Golden Lions final run on a Henderson single up the middle.
