Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (March 26) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team dropped their final game of the series with Prairie View A&M with the Panthers defeating the Golden Lions, 8-3 here Sunday afternoon at Tankersley Field.
UAPB finished the contest with eight hits, while PVAMU recorded 14.
The Golden Lions was led by
Sergio Esparza with two hits, whereas the Panthers had four players to finish with three hits apiece in Avery Williams, Anthony Fernandez, Cody Den Beste and Carson Lee.
Edgar Sanchez (1-4) received the win for PVAMU. He gave up eight hits, three earned runs and struck out three in nine innings of work.
Tyrus Lopez (1-4) received the loss for UAPB. He pitched five and one-third innings, allowing nine hits and six earned runs in the 26 batters he faced.
PVAMU was first to light up the scoreboard with Panthers pushing across one run in the bottom of the first inning.
UAPB recaptured the lead with a
Jaylen Jackson double scoring both Bradley Lopez and
Aderly Perez in the top of the second inning, giving the Golden Lions a 2-1 lead over the Panthers.
PVAMU regained the lead with a Don Beste three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to give the Panthers a 4-2 lead over UAPB.
Esparza cut PVAMU's lead to 4-3 with his double to right center scoring Jackson in the top of the fifth inning.
The Panther pushed across four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the 8-3 final.
