MONTGOMERY, Ala. (March 17) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Tennis team picked up their first conference win of the season with the Lady Lions defeating Mississippi Valley State, 4-0 here Friday afternoon at the Alabama State Tennis Courts.
 
UAPB won the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 competition in singles play. 
 
Taylor Shaw scored UAPB's first point of the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Shaneka Hubbard in No. 1 singles play.
 
Amirah Ali picked up the second point for the Lady Lions with her 6-3 win in set one and set two over Sydney Newport in the No. 3 singles competition.
 
In No. 6 single play, Jana Lewis defeated Jailynn May, 6-0 in the first set and 6-1 in the second set to score UAPB third point of the match.
 
The Lady Lions secured the doubles point with UAPB winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles competition.  The team of Amirah Ali and Amira Taylor defeated the team of Newport and Rita Gyasi, 6-4 in No. 1 doubles play.   In No. 2 doubles play, the team of Tia Thomas and Taylor Shaw defeated Hubbard and DeAima Cole, 6-0 to give UAPB the 4-0 victory.
