Box Score TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (March 9) - The University of Alabama held off an University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team ninth inning rally to hold on for a 6-5 win over the Golden Lions, here Thursday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

UAPB finished the contest with nine hits, whereas UA finished with eight.

The Golden Lions was led by
Corey Henderson as he went two-for-four from the plate and scoring two runs. Also
Jerimiah Figueroa recorded two hits in the contest for UAPB.Â

UA had three players to finish the contest with two hits in Chandler Avant, Hunter Alexander and Cody Henry.

Garrett Suchey (1-1) received the win for the Tide. He gave up five hits, three earned runs and struck out six in four innings of work. Garret Rukes, the UA starter pitched four and two-third innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and striking out four in the 18 batters he faced. Davis (2) Vainer received the save for UA. He struck out one in one-third inning of work.

Thomas Sanchez (0-2) received the loss for UAPB. He toed the rubber for five and two-third innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs and striking out four in the 25 batters he faced.  Also both
Antoine Luster and
Kenny Hinton saw on the mount in relief. Luster pitched one inning, allowing two hits and three earned runs in the six batter he faced, while Hinton pitched one and one-third inning in relief, allowing one hit and striking out two.

UA took a 3-0 lead in the ball game with the Tide scoring one two runs in the bottom of the second inning and one run in the third.Â

The Golden Lions plated two run in the top of the fifth inning on a
Julian Jones single to left field scoring both
Jaquese Moore and
Corey Henderson to cut UA's lead to 3-2.

UA plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to increase their lead to 6-3.

UAPB scored three more runs in their half of the ninth inning for the 6-5 final on a
Joshua Williams three-run homer scoring both Henderson,
Dontrell Brown and Williams.
