LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Oakland took care of business as it defeated the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff 69-37 in its final game of the Las Vegas Holiday Classic at South Point Arena. Alexus Bryson finished with a team-high 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Faith Ohanta chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Oakland jumped out to a 38-19 lead at the half and never trailed in the latter half, forcing 24 Lady Lions turnovers. However, UAPB held Oakland to just 4-of-21 (19%) shooting from behind the arc.
Sha'Keya Graves and Taylor Jones both scored 13 points apiece for Oakland, who improved to 7-4 on the season while the Lady Lions (2-8) dropped its eighth straight game.
The UAPB Lady Lions basketball team returns to action on Monday, January 1, 2018, as it begins conference play against Mississippi Valley State University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on New Year's Day.
