FRESNO, Calif. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions continued its tough road schedule and missed only one free throw all night but only attempted a season-low seven free throws in a 78-52 loss to Fresno State at the Save Mart Center. UAPB's Martaveous McKnight was the only Golden Lions member to score in double figures (16 pts.) while the Bulldogs produced five double-figure scorers.
UAPB (0-11) shot just under 40 percent for the game and hung around early in the second half, but as a team Fresno shot a sensational 60 percent from the field in the latter half, pulling away for the victory. In the first half, UAPB did not attempt a single free throw while its opponent shot 7-for-9 from the charity stripe. Also, the Bulldogs hit a total of 10 3-pointers while the Golden Lions buried a total of four.
Charles Jackson and Travon Harper both finished with eight points apiece for UAPB, who dropped its 11th straight contest which have all been on the road.
The Golden Lions have a chance to snap the losing streak as it returns to action on Saturday, December 16 to face Weber State University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Utah.
