Box Score Pine Bluff, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions volleyball team bounced back after two tough 5-set losses with a solid 3-set sweep (25-21, 25-17, 25-23) over Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent Texas Southern University at H.O. Clemmons Arena. UAPB was led by
Lisa Casimie who finished with a game-high 16 kills and also picked up six digs.
"It's nice to have our backs kind of against the wall a little bit and then to come through at the end of set three to score the last three points of the match was clutch," said head coach
Dustin Sahlmann. "We were a lot more focused today and our energy was a lot better. Our ladies realized that we do have a lot to play for at the end of the season. Now we have senior night tonight so we need to get the win against Prairie View."
Sophomore setter
Britney Sahlmann, daughter of Coach Sahlmann, produced a game-high 40 assists while senior
Jade Sanlin picked up a game-high 18 digs in the victory over TSU. Hitters
Taylor Sheppy and
Kendalle Howard both finished with nine kills apiece for UAPB.
Seniors
Lauren Corby, Sanlin and
Katy Hufnagel will be honored tonight for Senior Night as the Lady Lions team will host Prairie View A&M University in SWAC action. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
