(Little Rock, Ark.) The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff tennis teams engaged in fall play where the men defeated Christian Brothers University in a 9-0 sweep including singles and doubles matches at Rebsamen Tennis Center in Little Rock.
Sajid Rahman,
Simon Lewis,
Aravind Vangala,
Jualon Greig, LeDarrien Ledbetter and Junius Ross all picked up victories in the fall match while the Lady Lions fell 6-1 against the Lady Bucs.
"We performed alright for it being our first match," said UAPB head coach
James Cowan IV. "I was pleased with our win against Christian Brothers but we should have played better against Texas A&M at Texarkana. This was the first time that we've played fall matches since my first year of coaching here (2013), and I believe it is going to help us going into the spring season and give us a timetable on what we need to work on throughout the year."
In the second match, both UAPB teams fell to Texas A&M at Texarkana. The ladies fell 6-1 where freshman Ana Padilla picked up her first collegiate victory. The men fell 5-2 with seniors Rahman and Greig picking up singles victories.
Both Golden Lions and Lady Lions tennis teams will resume play in the spring.
