Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas (Aug. 27) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team dropped their third match of the Maverick Classic as Sam Houston State defeated the Lady Lions, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-19).
 
Both Natalie Gibbs and Kendalle Howard finished with five kills apiece to lead the Lady Lions.  Jade Sanlin and Britney Sahlmann led the team in digs and assists with Sanlin recording team high 10 digs and Sahlmann finishing with a team high 12 assists.
 
SHSU had a pair of Bearcats to finish in double-digit kills with Brooke White recording a team high 14 kills, edging Jordyn Vaughn with 13.  Michelle Griffith finished the contest with a match high 25 assists and Addison Miller led the team in digs with 10.
 
In the first set SHSU jumped out to a 7-2 lead on a Shelby Genung service ace.
 
UAPB cut SHSU's deficit with a 5-3 run on a Bearcat attack error, making the score 10-8 in favor of SHSU.
 
The Bearcats would then pull away from the Lady Lions as they used a 15-7 run to win the set 25-15 to take a 1-0 lead.   
 
UAPB took a quick 2-0 lead in the second set on a SHSU service error and a block by Lauren Corby.
 
SHSU tied the set at 3-3 on back kills by Brooke White and Griffith.
 
The Bearcats then took a 10-5 lead capped off by an Amanda Gooch kill.
 
UAPB cut SHSU's lead to 11-8 on and Bearcat attack error.
 
SHSU then pulled away from UAPB as they went on to win the set 25-18, giving the Bearcats 3-0 lead in the set.
 
UAPB dropped the third set 25-19 to give SHSU the 3-0 win.
