GOLDEN LIONS RALLY BACK TO WIN 4-3, OVER GRAMBLING STATE IN EXTRA INNINGS

Grambling, La. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball Team rallied for a 4-3 win over Grambling State in 10 innings, here Friday night at Wilbert Ellis Field. 

This series will decided who will represent the No. 1 seed in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division, heading into the SWAC Tournament in New Orleans May 18-22.  The Golden Lions will be looking for their third consecutive conference division championship under the leadership of Head Coach Carlos James.

Humberto Medina and CJ Lewington tossed 7.1 solid innings of with four strikeouts but did not earn a decision in the game one win.  Skyler Henson (3-1) came in the bottom of the 8th inning retiring the next eight batters out of 11 to earn the victory with three strikes outs.

Aderly Perez wrapped out three hits, three RBIs and hitting in the game tying run, on a solo blast over the left field wall in the top of the 8th inning.

 The Golden Lions (18-22, 14-5 SWAC) jumped on Grambling St. from the onset as Tommy Hass was hit by a pitched to start the game, followed by Jordan Knox who laced a doubled to left field moving Haas to third.   Perez come up big with two outs with a single up the middle, scoring Haas and Knox to give UAPB a 2-0 lead in the first inning. 

The Tigers (22-21, 15-6) answered back and scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead 3-2 off a two-run double to right center by Larry Barraza, before GSU had two runners on base off a walk and a single up the middle.

UAPB struck quickly in the top of the 10th with a leadoff walk with Dontrell BrownJoshua Williams single down right with one out, advanced Brown to second.  Jacob Columbo comes up big for the Golden Lions with a hard shot single to right center, scoring Brown to give UAPB the game winning run.  
Creighton Hoover took the loss for the Tigers giving up two hits and one earned run in 0.1 innings.

Perez led the Golden Lions at the plate with three hits, followed by Tommy Hass, Jordan Knox, Jaqueese Moore, and Joshua Williams with two hits apiece and Jacob Columbo with one hit.

The Golden Lions will look to clinch the series and the division for game two Saturday at 3 p.m. in Grambling Louisiana.
