GOLDEN LIONS AND JAGS ARE SET FOR THREE-GAME SERIES

UAPB AND JAGS SET FOR THREE-GAME SERIES

Baton Rouge, La. – The defending Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division champions open their second conference series play Friday when they play Southern University in the first of a three-game set at Lee-Hines Field. First-pitch is set for 6:07 p.m.

This will be the first series between the two programs this year, with the Golden Lions is looking to increase their lead in first place in the west division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The Golden Lions carry a three-game conference winning streak into the week following their sweep over conference foe Prairie View last weekend. UAPB ran out ending all three games in seven innings, taking game one over Prairie View 11-1, game two 12-0 and game three 21-1, fueled by home runs off the bats of Julian Jones, Joshua Williams and Jordan Knox. For Knox, it was his team-tying second homer and he pushed his team-leading RBI total to 19. Perez, meanwhile, connected on his second home run and now has 10 runs batted in and 19 scored, but continue to leads the team in batting with a .404 average.

Weekend starter Humberto Medina has gain momentum entering the series and leading the conference with 40 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.

The Jaguars are on a four game winning streak, and taking a 5-4 decision to Loyola University in a non-conference game before hosting a three game home stand against UAPB. Southern is lead by Troy Lewis, who went 3-for-3 with one RBI and scoring on run in the win Wednesday night vs. Loyola.

Friday night game will be aired live on Cox Sports Network in Baton Rouge or you can watch online at http://www.gojagsports.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?SPID=96913&db_oem_id=28100 at 6:00pm and both teams agreed to play a double-header Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. noon, instead of playing Sunday due to rain in the forecast on Easter Sunday.
