Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (March 20) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team rolled to a 21-1 win over Prairie View A&M in seven innings, here Sunday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
UAPB (4-14, 4-2 SWAC) finished the contest with 11 hits with
Dontrell Brown finishing with a team high two hits and
Julian Jones recording his first career grand slam in the bottom of the first inning.
PVAMU (6-12, 4-4 SWAC) finished the contest with three hits with Brashad Jones finishing with two hits to lead the Panthers.
Humberto Medina (1-1) received the win for the Golden Lions as he pitched five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven. Both
Austin Softley and
Matt Shindlebower made appearances on the hill for UAPB. Softly saw one inning of action, allowing hit and one earned run, while Shindlebower pitched one scoreless inning.
Darrien Williams (2-3) received the loss for the Panthers as he gave up five hits, eight earned runs and striking out one in one and two-third innings of work.
In the bottom of the first inning, UAPB scored seven runs, on three hits including a grand slam by Jones to take a 7-0 lead.
The Golden Lions increased their lead to 12-0 as UAPB scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning.
UAPB then plated seven runs in the fourth and two in the fifth inning to take a 21-0 lead.
PVAMU scored their only run in the top of the sixth inning on a Joshua Wells ground out to third base scoring Jones, who doubled in his at bat.
