Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Dec. 13) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball Team picked up their second win of the season with the Lady Lions defeating Tougaloo College, 71-60 here Tuesday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
UAPB (2-6) was led by
Niya Head with 13 points and 1- rebounds for a double-double.
Noe'll Taylor added 12 and Malaik Muhammad finished with 11 to round out the cast of double-digit performers for the Lady Lions. Brewton led the team in assists with five and both Muhammad and Head finished with four.
TC (3-3) was led by Arnissayur Robinson with 17 points from off the bench. Tynika Bender poured in 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Ahsia Clayton finished with 10. Asia Thibodeaux led the team in assists with seven.
UAPB grabbed an early 15-4 lead in the first quarter on a pair of Ohanta Faith free throws with 3:46 remaining.
TC used a 13-2 run to take a 19-17 lead with a 23 seconds remaining on a Thiboadeaux three pointer.
In the second quarter, UAPB took a 26-23 lead with a 9-4 run on an
Aiya El Hassan three pointer with 6:46 to go.
The Lady Bulldogs outscores UAPB, 16-8 in the final six minutes to take a 39-34 lead into the break.
UAPB tied the game at 42-42 in the third quarter on a Taylor layup with 5:33 remaining, capping an 8-3 run by the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions then extended their lead to 51-46 on another Taylor layup at the 59 second mark of the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, UAPB built their lead to 60-49 on a layup by Ohanta with 7:17 left to go in the contest.
The Lady Bulldogs closed the margin to 61-57 with an 8-1 run, capped off by an Ahsia Clayton three pointer with 4:13 to go.
UAPB outscored TC, 10-3 in the final four minutes for the 71-60 win.
The Lady Lions finished the contest shooting 48.1 percent (26-of-54), whereas the Lady Bulldogs shot 31.5 percent (17-of-54). UAPB held the rebounding margin over TC, 42-29.
