UAPB DEFEATS PHILANDER SMITH, 88-65 FOR FIRST WIN
Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Dec. 10) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball Team picked up their first win of the season with Lady Lions defeating Philander Smith College,  88-65 here Saturday afternoon at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
UAPB (1-6) had three Lady Lions to finish in double figures with Niya Head scoring a team high 25 points.  Shawntayla Taylor scored 12 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and Ajia Richardson added 10. 
 
PSC (6-4) had two Lady Panthers to score in double-figures with Terralyn Dominick scoring a team high 25 points and dishing out seven assists, while Amesha Hamlet-Brown added 14 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for a double-double on the night.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the first quarter on a   Head jumper with 7:19 remaining in the quarter.
 
PSC regained the lead with a 9-0 run to take a 12-7 lead, capped off by a Honcea Thornton with 2:19 remaining.
 
The Lady Lions closed out the quarter with an 8-0 run to take a 15-12 lead into the second quarter of play.
 
UAPB extended their in the second quarter to 20-12 on a three-point play by Erin Boothe with 7:49 to go before the half.
 
The Lady Panthers regained the lead with an 18-4 run to take a 30-24 lead on a Terralyn free throw with 2:09 remaining in the half.
 
UAPB closed out the half with a 5-1 run to cut PSC's lead to 31-29 heading into the break.
 
In the third quarter, UAPB used an 18-7 run to take a 47-37 lead on a Head three pointer with 3:14 to go.  The Lady Lions then extended their lead to 51-39 on a Head free throw with 1:23 to left to play in the quarter.
 
The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Panthers, 32-23 in the fourth quarter for the 88-65 win.
 
UAPB finished the contest shooting 40.0 percent (32-of-80), where PSC shot 30.3 percent (20-of-66).   The Lady Lions held the rebounding margins over the Lady Panthers, 60-46.
