Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Oct. 21) - In their second meeting of the season, Alabama State handed the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team, 3-0 (20-25, 17-25, 16-25) here Friday night at Lockhart Gymnasium.

UAPB (4-12, 4-5 SWAC) was led by
Natalie Gibbs, who finished with a team high four kills, whereas both
Kendalle Howard and
Taleah Ross finished with three kills each. Â
Britney Sahlmann led the Lady Lions in assists with seven, while
Courtney Brand led the team in digs with 13.

ALST (12-8, 9-0 SWAC) was led by Ni'yesha Brown with a match high 11 kills, followed by Briana Doresey with eight and Bayle Bennett with seven. Justus Tuiolosega led the Lady Hornets in assists with 15, while Jamie Coleman led the team in digs with 16.

UAPB jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set on back-to-back kills by
Lauren Corby and Howard and a Lady Hornet attack error.

SU tied the contest at 4-4 with a 4-1 run, capped off by a Briana Dorsey kill.

Both teams knotted the score four more times in the set.

The Lady Hornet broke the 14-14 tie with a Brown kill. Then ALST extended their lead with a 4-1 run to take a 19-15 lead, capped off by a Dorsey kill.

ALST held on to win the first set 25-20 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Lady Hornets went on to win the second set 25-17 and the third set 25-16 to win the match 3-0.Â

UAPB will return to action on Saturday, October 22 as they will travel to Normal, Ala., to take on Alabama A&M in a 2 p.m. start.
