UAPB CLAWS MISS. VALLEY STATE, 63-51

Box Score GREENWOOD, Miss. (March 6)  - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team ended their season on a good note with a 63-51 win over Mississippi Valley State, here Friday afternoon at the Leflore County Civic Center.
 
MVSU jumped out to an 11-4 lead on a Kahdejah Stevens made field goal with 16:08 to go in the first.
 
Destiny Brewton tied the contest at 15-15 with her made free throw at the 11:14 mark, capping an 11-4 run by the Lady Lions.
 
A Shami Goodman put UAPB ahead 19-15 with her three pointer with 9:43 mark left to play in the half.
 
MVSU tied the contest at 19-19 on a Stevens layup with 8:33 left in the half.
 
Jazmyne Victorian tied the contest at 21-21 with her made layup at the 7:20 mark for UAPB.  
 
The Devilettes regained the lead with a three point play by Christina Reed to take a 24-21 lead with 7:18 left in the half.
 
UAPB went into intermission with a 36-28 lead over MVSU with the Lady Lions outscoring the Devilettes 15-4 in the final seven minutes of the half.
 
The Lady Lions finished first half scoring 14 points in the paint, 11 points off of turnovers, eight second chance points and 19 bench points, whereas the Devilettes scored 12 points in the paint, seven points off turnovers, six second chance points and three bench points.
 
 In the second half, both team suffered a scoring drought with the Devilettes scoring a basket at the 18:58 mark.  Then the Lady Lions scored the first point of the half on a Brewton free throw with 17:13 to go.
 
MVSU scored their second basket of the half at the 12:33 mark on a Shada Nolen jumper. 
 
Just a minute late, Victorian scored UAPB second basket of the half at the 11:03 mark, making the score 39-32 in favor of the Lady Lions.
 
UAPB then extended their lead to 46-34 on Makayla Wormley jumper with 7:27 left in the contest.
 
MVSU pulled within seven points on a Beals layup with 5:28 to capping a 6-1 run by the Devilettes as that would close as MVSU would get with UAPB holding on for the 63-51 win.
 
UAPB (7-22, 5-13 SWAC) had two Lady Lions to score in double-figures with both Brewton and Victorian finishing with 11 points each.  Brewton led the lead on the boards with seven.
 
MVSU (4-22, 2-22 SWAC) was paced by Beals with 16 points and seven rebounds, followed by Reed with 14 points and four assists.
