JACKSON STATE RALLIES PAST UAPB, 78-74

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (March 2)  - Jackson State erased a UAPB nine point lead with 8:35 left in regulation to pull out a 78-74 win over the Golden Lions, here Monday evening at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
A Jazmyne Victorian layup gave the Lady Lions a 59-50 lead with 8:35 left in regulation.
 
JSU used a 17-8 run to tie the contest at 67-67 with 3:09 left in the contest on a Bridget Robinson layup.   Just 21 seconds later, JSU took a 69-67 lead on a Robinson layup at the 2:45 mark.
 
The Lady Tigers ended the contest with an 8-5 run for the 78-74 finale.
 
UAPB finished the contest scoring 20 points in the paint, 17 points off of turnovers, 13 second chance points and 32 bench points.  For JSU, the Lady Tigers finished the contest with 38 points in the paint, 31 points off of turnover, 16 second chance points and 28 bench points.
 
In the first half, JSU jumped out to an 11-4 lead on Nyahok Bile layup with 15:47 left in the first.
 
UAPB tied the contest at 11-11 on an Ajia Richardson three pointer with 14:29 to go, capping a 7-0 run by the Lady Lions.
 
Ayanna Hardy-Fuller gave the Lady Tigers a 17-16 with 10:07 left, capping a 6-5 run by JSU.
 
A Diamond Richardson free throw gave the Lady Lions a 28-20 lead, capping a 12-3 run by the Lady Lions.
 
JSU closed out the first half with a three-point play by Kaylan Hughes with eight seconds left, capping a 14-7 run by the Lady Tigers as UAPB went into the intermission with a 35-34 lead.
 
UAPB finished the first half shooting 43.5 percent (10-of-23), while JSU shot 33.3 percent (13-of-39).
 
In the first five minutes of the second half there would be four ties.
 
Carlisha Walker broke the 42-42 tie with her layup at the 17:19 mark.  The Lady Lions then pushed their lead to 54-47 on a pair of Charisse Carr free throws with 12:47 left in regulation.
 
UAPB (6-22, 4-13) had four Lady Lions to score in double-figures with Destiny Brewton scoring a team high 19 points as she finished the contest 10-for-17 from the free throw line.  Behind her was Ajia Richardson with 14, followed by Diamond Richardson with points and 10 rebounds.  Round out the cast of double-digit scorers for UAPB was Shami Goodman with 10.
 
JSU (11-16, 8-8 SWAC) was led by Alisa Ross as she scored 11 of her 25 points from the charity stripe.  Behind her was Ke'ra St. John with 12 points and seven rebounds.
