PRAIRIE VIEW A&M USES SECOND HALF TO POWERS BY UAPB, 84-63

Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Feb, 23) - Prairie View A&M completed their regular season sweep of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team with a 84-63 win over the Lady Lions, here Monday evening at the William J. Nick Arena.
 
In a back and forth first half, where the biggest lead held by either team was four point for the majority of the half, including 10 ties.
 
 UAPB grabbed the early 5-2 lead on back-to-back scores by Carlisha Walker and Shami Goodman with 16:48 to go in the first.
 
Monique Abbs tied the contest at 6-6 for the Lady Panthers with her layup with 13:28 left in the first.  Then a steal by Chelsey Rosier setup a layup by Shaneece Stephens put the Lady Panthers ahead 8-6 with the 12:43 left in the first half.
 
A layup with Jazmyne Victorian gave the contest its third tie of half with her layup at the 10:54 mark, tying the score at 8-8.
 
PVAMU regained the lead on a free throw Brooks and a made jumper by Jackson to give the Lady Panthers an 11-8 lead with 10:05 go in the first.
 
UAPB regained the lead with a pair of Makayla Wormley free throws at the 7:32 mark giving the Lady Lions a 14-13 lead.
 
Diamond Richardson tied the contest at 28-28 with layup at the 2:06 mark for the 10th tie of the half.
 
PVAMU finished the first half with an 8-2 run to take a 36-30 lead into the intermission.
 
UAPB finished the first half shooting 35.5 percent (11-of-31), while PVAMU shot 46.9 percent (15-of-32).
 
Also in the half, UAPB recorded 14 points in the paint, nine points off of turnovers, eight second chance points and 19 bench points, while PVAMU recorded 18 points in the paints,  10 points off of turnovers, tallied four second chance points, six fast break points and 14 bench points.
 
The Lady Panthers opened the second half with an 18-6 run, capped off by a Rosier layup with 13:28 left in the regulation.  
 
UAPB finished the second half shooting 27.5 percent (11-of-40), while PVAMU shot 36.2 percent (17-of-47) with the Lady Lions scoring 33 points and the Lady Panthers 46. 
 
The Lady Lions in the second half tallied 16 points in the paint, 10 points off of turnovers and 13 second chance points, two fast break points and 27 bench points.
 
PVAMU in the second half recorded 32 points in the paint, 13 points off of turnovers, four fast break points and 20 bench points.
 
UAPB (6-20, 4-11 SWAC) was led by Victorian with 16 points and nine rebounds, followed by Goodman with 11 points and three steals.
 
PVAMU (12-14, 9-5) had three players to score in double-figures with Jackson scoring a game high 23 points.  Both Alexus Parker and Shamiya Brooks finished with double-doubles for the Lady Panthers with both of them scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds each for the Lady Panthers.
