Box Score HOUSTON (Feb. 21) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball outscored Texas Southern 40-30 in the second half as TSU defeated UAPB, 73-58 here Saturday afternoon at HPE Arena.

TSU jumped out to a 15-6 lead with a Briana Sidney three pointer with 12:48 remaining in the first. Then the Lady Tigers extended their lead to 25-6 with 9:53 remaining in the half.

UAPB went into the intermission trailing TSU 43-18.

The Lady Lions finished the first half shooting 32.0 percent (8-of-25), while TSU shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28).

In the second half, the Lady Lions cut the Lady Tigers lead to 49-33 with a 15-9 run, capped off by a
Shami Goodman three pointer with 14:36 left to play in the contest.Â

UAPB pulled within 70-56 with a 1:18 remaining in regulation on an
Ajia Richardson layup, capping a 15-2 run by the Lady Lions.

The Lady Lions finished the contest shooting 43.5 percent (27-of-62), while TSU shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58).

UAPB (6-19, 4-10 SWAC) was led by a Goodman and Richardson with Goodman scoring a team high 11 points and Richardson chipping in 10.Â
Carlisha Walker led the Lady Lions on the boards with six.

TSU (15-9, 12-1 SWAC) was led by Alexus Johnson with a game high 27 points and nine rebounds, behind her was Sidney with 16.

UAPB will return to action on Monday, Feb. 23 as they will travel to Prairie View, Texas to take on Prairie View A&M in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
