Box Score RUSTON, La. (Feb. 20) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Louisiana Tech with the Bulldogs winning game one 9-3 and edging the Golden Lions, 3-1 in game two, here Friday afternoon at J.C. Love Field.
In game one, LTU outhit UAPB 12-5 with both team committing one error each in the contest.
The Bulldogs was led by Chandler Hall as he went three-for-four from the plate and scoring two runs for the LTU.
UAPB has five players to finish with one hit each for the Golden Lions.
Clancy Taylor (1-1) picked the win for LTU with him pitching seven innings, allowing one hit and striking out five in the 23 batters he faced, while
Austin Grier pitched two innings in relief, allowing four hits, and striking out two in the 11 batters he faced.
Blake Estep (0-2) received the loss for the Golden Lions with him pitching three innings, allowing eight hits, seven earned runs and walking two batters in the 17 batters he faced.
Ciji Ramos also made an appearance on the mound for UAPB as he pitched three innings, allowing three hits and striking out two in the 13 batters he faced. Humberto Medina also toed the rubber for UAPB with him pitching one and two-third innings, striking out three in the five batters he faced.
Chris Phelps and
Skyler Henson also made the appearances on the mound for UAPB. Phelps faced one batter, allowing one hit, while Henson pitched one-third scoreless inning in the two batters he faced.
LTU took a 9-0 lead into the top of the ninth inning with the Bulldogs plating two runs in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth.
UAPB plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning with
Jose Hernandez scoring on a
Jerimiah Figueroa single to right field, followed by a
Joshua Cassidy double to left field scoring Figueroa. Then Cassidy would score on a Collin Drury single to right center for the 9-3 finale.
In game two, UAPB outhit LTU 11-4 with Figueroa going three-for-four from the plate and driving in one run to lead the Golden Lions.
LTU had four players to finish with one hit each for the Bulldogs.
Laetten Galbraith received the win for LTU as he pitched one and two-third innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three in the five batters he faced. Phillips Diehl made the start for Bulldogs as he pitched five innings, allowing six hits and striking four in the 20 batters he faced. Mark Baughman pitched two and one-third innings, allowing four hits, one earned and striking out two in the 12 batter he faced.
Skyler Henson (0-1) received the loss for the Golden Lions as he pitched 0.0 inning, allowing one earned run in one batter faced.
Andre Davis made the start for Golden Loins as pitched two and two-third innings, allowing one hit, one earned run and striking out five in the 12 batters he faced.
Billy Olson pitched three and two-third innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out four in the 14 batters faced.
Chris Phelps and
Kevin Walsh also made appearances on the mound for UAPB. Phelps struck out one in two-third inning of relief, while Walsh struck out one in his one inning of relief.
Bre'Shon scored LTU's first run on a wild pitch, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
UAPB tied the contest at 1-1 as
Vladimir Gomez scored on a Figueroa double to left field in the top of the eighth inning.
The Bulldogs plated two run in their of half of the eighth for the 3-1 finale with Hall scoring on a Kimbell fielder's choice, followed by a Steven Blanchard single scoring Kimbell.
