Box Score BATON ROUGE,  La. (Jan. 17)  - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team dropped their ninth straight road game of the season as Southern University defeated the Lady Lions, 69-42 here Saturday afternoon at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

In the contest, UAPB shot 30.4 percent (7-of-23) as they shot 28.4 percent from the charity in the first half as the Lady Lions connected on five free throws in 19 attempts.

SU in the contest finished the game shooting 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the free throw line.

UAPB opened the first half with a 6-3 lead on back-to-back three pointers by Diamond Richardson and Destiny Brewton.  

SU regained the lead with a 10-4 run to take a 13-10 lead with 12:12 left in the first, capped off by a Briana Green field goal.

The Jaguars ended the first half with a 7-2 run to take a 30-22 lead into the break.

SU opened the second half with a 12-1 run to take a 42-23 lead, capped off by a Green field goal with 16:24 to go in the half.

The Jaguars extended their lead to a 46-26 on a Jadea Brundidge field goal at the 15:49 mark of the half.

UAPB finished the contest shooting 45.2 percent (16-of-37), while SU shot 42.4 percent (28-of-66).

The Lady Lions was paced by Jazmyne Victorian with nine points, followed by Richardson with six and both Carlisha Walker with five points each. Victorian led the team on the boards with six.

SU had three Jaguars to score in double-figures with Coleman scoring a team high 15 points, followed by Jasmine Jefferson with 13 and Britney Washington with 10.  In addition, Jefferson recorded a team nine rebounds and four steals.

With the loss, UAPB falls to 4-11 and 2-2 in conference play, while SU goes to 5-10 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

UAPB will  continue their two-game road swing as they will travel to Alcorn State, Miss., to take on Alcorn State on Monday, Jan. 19 at the Davey L. Whitney Center in a 5:30 p.m. Southwestern Athletic Conference Matchup.
