Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Sept. 8) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball Team dropped a 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 14-25, 25-23, 13-15) heartbreaker to Mississippi Valley State here Monday night at the H. O. Clemmons Arena in their home opener.
MVSU (1-4) took a 2-1 lead going into the fourth set.Â
The Devilettes jumped out to a 10-6 lead capped off by a Halee Clark kill.
UAPB battled themselves back into the set as they knotted the score at 15-15 on a
Valiyah Barnes kill, capping a 9-5 run by the Lady Lions.
MVSU took a 22-17 advantage with a 7-2 run capped off by a UAPB attack error.
Once again the Lady Lions battled back with an 8-1 run to win the set 25-23 to tie the match at 2-2.
In the fifth and deciding set, UAPB jumped out to a 4-1 lead, capped off by a MVSU attack error. The Lady Lions would be the first to record the eighth point of the set as UAPB took an 8-5 lead on an
Ashlie Jones kill before the two team changed sides.

Jahkishma Soto kill extended the Lady Lions lead to 10-7.Â
MVSU tied the set at 12-12 with a 5-2 run, capped off by a UAPB service error.Â
An Ayana Parker kill tied the set at 13-13 for the Lady Lions with the assists from
Jordan Foyer.
But the Devilettes would capitalize on a UAPB service error and a Halie Gayten kill to win the set 15-13 for the 3-2 win.
UAPB won the first set 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.Â
MVSU tied the match at 1-1 as they won the second set 25-20.
UAPB (1-5) was led by Jones with a match high 18 kills, followed by Barnes with 10 and
Whitney Harris with nine. Foyer led the Lady Lions in assists with 22 assists, while
Courtney Brand led the team in digs with 23.
MVSU was paced by Clark with 14 kill and Gayten with 11.  Alexandria Garland led the Devilettes in assists with 33, while Clark led the tea in digs with 18.
The Lady Lions will return to action this weekend as they will travel to Edwardsville, Ill., to participate in the Southern Illinois at Evansville Invitational. In their first match, the Lady Lions will take on Arkansas State on Friday, September 12 in 4 p.m. start and will take on host SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday, September 13 at 11 a.m.
