Box Score NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 6) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team picked up their first win of the season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13,25-17) over Alcorn State in their final match of the UNO Invitational, here Saturday morning at the Human Performance Center.
 
UAPB (1-4) was paced by both Whitney Harris and Valiyah Barnes as Harris finished the match with a team high nine kills, while Barnes added six.  Jordan Foyer led the Lady Lions in assists with 14, whereas Alexis Smith led the team in digs with 11,  
 
ALCN (2-1) was led by Georgia Parsons with eight kills.  Sydney Melloms led the Lady Braves in assists with 12, while Vanessa Ortega led the team in digs with 14.
 
UAPB won the first 25-20 to take a 1-0 lead in the match as the Lady Lions recorded 12 kills, while Alcorn recorded 10 kills in the set. 
In the set, UAPB jumped out to a 10-4 lead, capped off by a kill by Harris.  Alcorn closed the gap as they cut UAPB's lead to 20-16 on a Lady Lion service error, capping a 12-10 run by the Lady Braves.

UAPB opened the second set with a 10-0 lead capped off by a kill by Ayanna Parker.   The Lady Lions extended their lead to 20-11 as UAPB went on to win the set 25-13 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.  UAPB finished the set with 12 kills, while ALCN recorded five.

The Lady Lions won the third set 25-17 to take win the match 3-0.

UAPB will return to action on Monday, September 8 against Mississippi Valley State in their home opener at the H.O. Clemmons Arena in a 6:30 p.m. start.
