PRIVATEERS SINKS LADY LIONS, 3-1

Box Score NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 5)  - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (17-25, 25-16, 17-25, 19-25) decision to the University of New Orleans, here Friday night at the Human Performance Center in the first match of the UNO Invitational.

UAPB (0-4) was led by Whitney Harris with eight kills, followed by Lauren Corby with seven, while both Ashlie Jones and Jade Sanlin finished the contest with six kill apiece.   Courtney Brand led the Lady Lions in digs with 11, while Jordan Foyer finished with 16 assists.

UNO (3-2) had a pair of Privateers to finish in double-digit kills with Cara Sander leading garnering a match high 15 kills, while Rondolyn Bryant finished with 10.   Sara Hammoutene led UNO in assists with 44, while Celest Ramirez.
UNO took a 1-0 lead in the match as they won the first set 25-17.

UAPB bounced back in the second set as they won the second set 25-16 to tie the match at 1-1.  The Lady Lions jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the set capped off by a UNO blocking error. 

UNO tied the set at 10-10 on a Bryant kill, capping a 9-5 run by the Privateers.  UAPB took advantage of several UNO attack errors and bad sets to take a 21-14 lead.  

The Lady Lions went to win the set on three straight kills by Jones, Jade Sanlin, Kayla Dowdell and a service ace by Harris.
UNO would win the third set (25-17 and the fourth set (25-19) for the 3-1 win.

UAPB will return to action on Saturday, September 6 against Alcorn State at 10 a.m. in their final match of the UNO Invitational.
